The Legacy Tree:
A Contemporary Romance Novel
by
Rida Allen
Robyn and Erik had been best friends since, at
twelve years of age, they met on summer vacation at a campground. They
exchanged letters throughout the year and met back at their favorite
spot each summer. They shared a love of cool dips in the lake, of
Robyn's dog, Peanut, and of Cheetos. Eventually, they shared love.
"He froze and stared off into space. Of course he loved her. They
had been best friends forever and he'd loved her all that time. But
somewhere along the way, it had changed. It was no longer the love
felt between best friends...it was a soul deep love between a man and
a woman."
Erik and Robyn carve the milestones of their lives together into the
trunk of a tree at the campground. The carving commemorates the death of
their beloved Peanut and, over the years, further signs of their lives
together.
Ms. Allen writes with great warmth, humor, compassion, and wit. Her
characters come alive with needs, insecurities, hopes, and enthusiasm we
can identify with from our own lives. I look forward to her next book.
It's time to begin stocking up with good books to cuddle up with near
the fireplace on the coming winter nights. The Legacy Tree
is a terrific place to start.
